Hello from Santa Monica!
It's been a busy past few months. Since January, I've shot over 2200 images and have been working hard on several projects that I hope to be
wrapping up in the next few months. As always, I have several long term projects that continue to forge ahead even if only a bit every week. I've been fortunate enough to do quite a bit
of travel over the past few months which has resulted in some new work I hope to be releasing soon to my online galleries.

There's been a bit of shuffling around on my website as of late. The most noticeable change is the addition of my
photoblog. This is a project I started back in early 2004 that features a sort of photographic blog chronicling the myriad experiences in my life. For me this isn't so much about
creating beautiful art and more about simply documenting the world as it passes by. You can now find this photoblog featured on my web site under the new
photoblog section. I've also started a subscription service for this blog that sends you mail whenever I
make a new post. If you'd like to receive such a notice, please click on any of the "Subscribe To This Blog" links.

Film has been rolling on my two abstract projects mentioned in the last issue: one centering on light, shadow and
shredded paper and the other on "defocused" architecture. I'm starting to get some images I'm pretty excited about and hope to be completing sometime within the next month or two
if I don't find myself waylaid by some other artistic endeavor that has demanded by attention. I'm also moving steadily forward on the "secret project" and hope to wrap everything
by early summer.

I've shot a lot of stuff over the past few months that I'll soon be exhibiting in my online galleries. Here's a brief glimpse at some
of my forthcoming work.

Head In The Sand
- Venice Beach, California, 2005 -
Late one Sunday afternoon while wandering about Venice Beach (which is, as those of you who know
me well are already aware of, one of my favorite photo spots to hang around) I stumbled upon this unique sand sculpture just a few feet from the
advancing tide of the Pacific Ocean. What caught my eye about this sculpture was how much of a contrast it is, both in form and texture, from the surrounding
landscape. Many also find it makes a strong statement about the temporary nature of things, considering this sculpture had a life span of only a few hours before being
decimated by the ocean's ebb and flow. Some people also swear that the clouds in the sky behind the sand head spell out "LOVE." I'll leave it to you to decide what
may or may not be there. This print is currently on display in my online "La Mer" gallery.
Best Regards,
Walt Jones
