Life for a jellyfish is artfully simple - and when seen, often beautiful. Cnidaria medusae gathered their simple cells into beings some 500 million years back, yet they still eat, breathe and swim with multipurpose body parts. Working with only this basic blueprint for life, pulsing slowly, weightlessly with dark ocean currents, jellyfish have evolved into many colors and shapes. Illuminated from their darkness, their translucent bodies and nettle-lined tentacles reflect and refract light to reveal the enigma of their beauty.
For this series, I’ve chosen to bring the images to life using the non-traditional process of applying pigmented inks directly to satin-finish aluminum. The results are stunning: each print captures an intense energy, iridescence and depth that transcends standard photographic imagery.
Original photographs are available for individual purchase and can also be displayed together as an exhibition. Each image is available as a pigmented ink print on aluminum with a high-gloss UV coating, offered in a limited edition of 10, signed and numbered on recto. Please inquire for pricing.
